The Humanities Without Walls (HWW) series promotes scholarship in the humanities, arts, and interpretive social sciences. The series seeks to advance innovative and experimental research and pedagogy through open access digital publications from faculty and advanced graduate students affiliated with the HWW consortium of Midwestern universities.

The HWW series was initially developed to showcase the outcomes of a series of competitively funded projects designed as applied research collaborations that investigate one of two possible grand challenge research topics: the “Global Midwest” and “Humanities in a Changing Climate.”  The series also seeks to bring together digital scholarship from across the fifteen-member Humanities Without Walls consortium, serving as a platform to test new research strategies in digital scholarship while increasing the visibility of the humanities and achieving impact through an open access venue.
