Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia where the entries can be created, added and edited by anyone.  Wikipedia can be great for general things, but at a college level professors are looking for more than that. However, Wikipedia can help you gather background information to help you get your search process starting by generating search terms. Also, don't forget to check out the entry bibliographies, which may contain sources you can use for your formal search. Remember, Wikipedia's entries can be written and edited by anyone so they may not be reliable, you will not necessarily know the authorship, and the entries can be biased. If you need help getting started with your research, don’t forget you can always Ask a Librarian!
